I was reminded in conversation with some friends last night that I am not the only parent who talks ridiculously silly to my baby. I have a lot of videos of Adam that I almost don't want to share because of what I'm saying in the background and I don't have a clue how to edit video. But he's just so cute when he's going "jumpy jumpy" I have to post this video at least for Nana and Grandma...I'm just saying.

My honey bunches of oats is 1 year older! And that means I am not too much older than him for the next 5 months. This is my favorite time of year :) We celebrated today with friends and I surprised him with presents throughout the day. I also saw this cake on pinterest and knew I had to make it for him. Happy Birthday Dan! I love love love you.

10 Months

This boy has grown up a lot in just the last month. He crawls, pulls himself up, takes steps with some help, eats everything, jumps in his crib, has 6 teeth, does not like being "stuck" in his carseat, does not like having to lay down and hold still for diaper changes, and does not like being pulled away when he is crawling towards something he shouldn't get. He can feed himself with his fingers which is nice for me so I can more easily make dinner. He is very curious about the toilets so we now keep the bathroom doors shut always. But more than ever he LOVES playing with his daddy. They are very silly together when Dan gets home from work. Dan gets Adam to laugh so loud...it is pretty much the best part of my day to hear them laugh together.

Adam has liked to be moving since the day he was born. Dan gave him a ride on the vacuum one Saturday morning and Adam threw a little fit when it was time to get off :) And of course he loves going for walks in the stroller. I wish it was Spring already. Not that we have had real wintery weather yet but it hasn't been quite warm enough to be outside everyday. Is anyone else so anxious to be spending lots of time outside in the sun? And my goodness, Adam is looking more and more like a toddler to me everyday! I kind of like it.

Twenty Twelve

I'm going to take horseback riding lessons this year but I can assure you I will not look this good or be kissing any horses. Last year I took a sewing class and loved it. I'm taking the route of choosing a new skill to learn each year rather then the typical resolution/goal setting that I just miserably fail at. Is there something new that you want to try this year? I'd love to hear your ideas!

Adam is 9 months old and wants to be 15 I think. He loves the iPad, tv remotes, blu-ray player, sitting in the driver seat of the car and holding onto the wheel, standing, eating whatever we are eating even though he has 1 tooth, and pulling his highchair tray off and holding it above his head. He also loves his daddy right now. If Dan is in sight he wants him to hold him, not me. He isn't quite crawling yet but rocks and takes a couple little slides forward or more often backwards. He really prefers to stand though and is like a little monkey crawling up on us or furniture to try to get to a standing position. He babbles saying dadada, mamama, and bababa. When when hold him he grabs onto our hair at the back of our neck. Dan likes it and thinks it feels like a mini head massage. I just feel like Adam is constantly pulling my hair. He really likes peekaboo and being startled if we jump out from hiding from him. He will bounce a little or make humming noises if he hears music. He likes to hold my hands and clap with me but he hasn't figured out he can do it by himself yet. He has been much happier and comfortable since getting the tubes in his ears. His cousin got this "rollercoaster" for Christmas and Dan had the bright idea to put Adam on it. Are we surprised that Adam LOVED it? No, not at all although I could hardly watch out of fear he would fall off any second. Dan assured me though he was right there to catch him if he lost his balance. So the kid can't crawl but he can ride a rollercoaster!

I rang in the New Year doing masks with my nieces, having story time, and eating my mom's homemade cinnamon rolls. I'm pretty sure actually that I ate my weight in sweets in the month of December :) Time to get healthy again. Wishing you and yours the best in Twenty Twelve!

Christmas in Connecticut

Adam did much better flying this time than he did when he was 8 weeks old. We took turns holding him in the aisle and Dan was lucky enough to get him to sleep. The way home he was awake the entire time, never crying (thank goodness!), but so figdety! I'm slightly jealous of his eyelashes, or "eyelashleys" as one of my nieces called them, and I just love his sleeping face!

Adam loved celebrating his first Hanukkah and meeting my cousin Hillary's kids. Daphne is 10 days younger than him and he is already picking on her! Uncle Evan and Adam had good bonding time too.

We celebrated Christmas Eve with the Jensen's at their home eating delicious food, singing carols, and lots of crankiness from Adam. We had to take him home early and put him to bed.

Christmas morning was filled with lots of present opening, eating cinnamon rolls, lots of laughter and some happy tears!

The adults got a night out by ourselves to celebrate Dan's parents' anniversary. We saw Sherlock Holmes and had a yummy italian dinner. Everyone made gingerbread houses one day, we went bowling another day, I got my Dunkin Donut fix, and of course we went to a Chinese buffet. It was a great trip!!!

First Christmas

We celebrated our own little Christmas before we went out of town for Christmas and New Years. Adam got a car, toothbrush, and a book in his stocking. Dan spoiled me with more than we agreed to spend on each other. I got Dan a bunch of artwork for his office and some new clothes. I felt like we were "playing house" have our own Christmas and being the parents for the first time. We had Cinnamon rolls for breakfast and plan to make that a tradition. And we'll keep giving Adam an empty cardboard box as long as that makes him happy too :)

Gingerbread Houses and Twins

We made gingerbread houses with our friends Greg and Kayla last night. They were so kind to bring along their darling new twins, Jayden and Alta. It was harder to make our houses with three babies in the group too but it was still fun! We had some very original ideas though including an HVAC unit next to Greg's house and a shredded wheat roof on Dan's house.

Early this morning...

we had to take Adam to the hospital for a little procedure to get tubes put in his ears. He has had four ear infections in the last five months. We were at the hospital for about two hours but the procedure only took 15 minutes. He handled it all really well although he was not happy to have to wait 2.5 hours to get a bottle this morning. But he is at an age now where it is easy to distract him. He loved the fish tank in the waiting room, playing ball, and sucking on my electric toothbrush (Dan was so nice to give it to him to play with :) He was so cute in his little hospital gown but it was also a little sad. It made me so grateful that he is really very healthy and that we weren't there for anything too serious. Hopefully he will much more comfortable now.

Festival of Trees

Adam and I met our friends Kara and Kaylee on Friday to go to The Festival of Trees. I had never been but it is a charity event held every year to earn money for Primary Children's Hospital. People donate trees, wreaths, and gingerbread houses to be auctioned off. The gingerbread houses were my favorite. This will be a Christmas tradition every year now while we are in Utah. I loved it!

8 Months

I want to freeze time. Adam is so much fun and so easy right now. He sits and plays with toys loving to empty the toy baskets. He loves food, especially whatever we are eating. But he doesn't have any teeth yet so he can't have everything he wants. That is a life lesson that is better learned sooner than later though. He can pull himself up onto his knees and he will get into crawling position and rock back and forth. I'm in no rush though for him to crawl because will make things a little more difficult. He sleeps from 6 to 7 which is absolutely heavenly!!!! He naps at 9 and 1 usually for 1.5 to 2 hours. He likes to click his tongue and makes dadada and bababa sounds. Adam loves the bath and being outside. He has such a fun laugh, loves playing peek-a-boo, and dancing.

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with most of my family in Colorado- complete with launching model rockets, a mashed potato cook-off from the boys, and a beautiful sunset. We are most grateful for our families, what good people they are, and what great friends they are. Hope you had a good holiday too!

I heard this essay by Robert J. Hastings recited last Friday night and was truly inspired. I hope you enjoy it too.

   Tucked away in our subconscious minds is an idyllic vision in which we see ourselves
on a long journey that spans an entire continent. We're traveling by train and, from the
windows, we drink in the passing scenes of cars on nearby highways, of children waving at
crossings, of cattle grazing in distant pastures, of smoke pouring from power plants, of row
upon row upon row of cotton and corn and wheat, of flatlands and valleys, of city skylines and
village halls.

    But uppermost in our conscious minds is our final destination--for at a certain hour and on a
given day, our train will finally pull into the station with bells ringing, flags waving, and bands
playing. And once that day comes, so many wonderful dreams will come true. So restlessly, we
pace the aisles and count the miles, peering ahead, waiting, waiting, waiting for the station.

Do you find yourself often living in the past or looking forward to the future? For me it has always been the next step in life...when I can wear makeup, when I can go to dances, when I can drive, when I graduate high school, or when I get married. I didn't enjoy college like I wish I had because I took dating way too seriously feeling like I had to get married before I left BYU. Well I didn't and now I am so glad. I enjoyed life much more when I moved to DC and tried to live "more in the now". Now I'm finding myself looking ahead again for when Adam is a little bit bigger and can do this or that. Or sometimes I find myself looking back and jealously remembering how easy and spontaneous life was when Dan and I were first married.

I'm really going to try to stop and I encourage you to do the same. Appreciate every day for what it brings. Today I am loving Adam's huge grin when he sees me when he wakes up from his nap. Today I am loving Dan's work schedule that allows him to play with Adam every morning. Today I am loving that Dan and I can cozy up and watch as much TV as we want every night. Today I am loving that I live close to so much family. Today I am loving that my loved ones and I are all healthy.

Lately...

I bought 5 Christmas stockings to fit nicely across our mantle. (even though there are 3 of us!)
I made these to put outside on our porch as soon as Thanksgiving is over.
We made a toy for Adam out of a wooden block, ribbons, wooden balls, and a drill.
We've been watching The Sing Off, Castle, Up All Night, The New Girl, Monk, and Psych.
Adam has been sitting up playing with toys and in the bathtub and loves being such a big boy.

Ok I am awful at planning and preparing dinner...something that I would love to conquer someday. I'm sure I'm not alone in this quest for dominating dinner so I thought I would pass along the link to this awesome website I just stumbled upon (bless you pinterest!) You have to check out Momma Hen's Kitchen. The things I look for in recipes are few ingredients and nothing to crazy that I either usually have already or I know where to easily grab it in the store. After looking at a lot of these they fit my criteria for a successful dinner. Hope this helps someone else out!

Thoughts on Women

With Thanksgiving being a few short weeks away, gratitude has been on my mind. I also see daily on Facebook posts of what people are thankful for that day which has been a nice reminder as well to count my blessings. More than anything though I have been overwhelmed with gratitude for the women in my life. I have six incredible sisters who all provide me with strength and support that is indescribable. I also feel so lucky now to have three sister-in-laws who I love, admire, and value their friendships. I have a wonderful mother-in-law with a huge heart who has shown me how to be more giving and caring. My own mother is a rock of strength, wisdom, and faith and I am in awe of her when I think about what she has been through and who she is because of it all. I was able to have a close relationship with my Grandma Jan who taught me to choose to be happy and to have a positive attitude. I have friends who are like sisters to me and they are each truly a blessing in my life. Spending time or just having a conversation with any of these women is often what "fills my cup". And for that I am eternally grateful.

7 Months

Adam is 7 months old today! It is hard to believe how time if flying by now. He weighed 20 lbs. 6 oz last week. He is wearing 9-12 month clothing and size 3 diapers. Just in the last week he has started sitting up all by himself and clicking his tongue. He loves to be held upside down and to play "steamroller" aka be rolled over and over again across the floor. He is on the same sleeping schedule- goes to bed at 6, wakes up for a bottle around 4, and wakes up at 7. He naps at 9 and 1 for 1.5-2 hours. Adam has started "chatting" a lot more and lately says dadadada. He has had three ear infections now and will be getting tubes after his next one. I think he is getting his first tooth on the bottom left. He is getting to be so playful and we LOVE LOVE LOVE his laugh. Sometimes I can't believe he is our baby and that we are really parents. We are sure glad though! He is my best little buddy!

Little Yankee Fan

We didn't make it to many of Dan's softball games this season because they were usually past Adam's bedtime. We went for the last game though and Adam got to sport his Yankees hoodie. He looked so cute! Dan's team didn't do as well as last year but they still had a great time playing and we'll miss all our friends on the team until it starts again in the spring.

Adam and I had fun "monkeying" around today. He was pretty cute in his monkey suit and I should have let him play with the candy bowl way sooner than I did because it would have entertained him all day. At lunch we went into Dan's work for a party. Adam completed Dan's "Zookeeper" costume.

A Hoot'in Good Time

The Darrows (my sister Heather's family) came to stay with us last weekend and we had a blast with them. We went to a BYU volleyball game, played Last Word, went to Cabellas, and decorated these Owl Cupcakes that I found at One Charming Party. It was fun for everyone and I loved to see the personalities created in each owl! If you want to do it all you need is chocolate frosting, Oreos, and Reeses Pieces.

My Big Boy

I'm not sure when he got so big but today my mom was giving him a bottle and I was shocked! He isn't a little infant anymore. And now he drinks enough milk to need the big bottles. And on top of that...he likes to hold the bottle himself! I'm so excited to wrestle with him, build towers, and play hide-and-seek and it seems like we are getting that much closer...yay!

Best Husband Ever

I was out shopping one afternoon with Adam about a month ago and came home to this. Dan had a business lunch and he was kind enough to bring me home cheesecake and stop by the house on his way back to his office. I told him he won the "Best Husband Ever Award" for this!! It doesn't take a whole lot to make me happy...a $6 piece of cheesecake will always do :)

Random Sidenote: Several years ago my Mom and I were taking my Grammi to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch and she got the name confused with Chuck E Cheese and called it The Chunky Cheese...I die laughing every time I remember that!

BYU Football

We got to go to the last two BYU football games and have loved it! We got free tickets both times and in great spots too. Adam lasted til halftime each game and then it was definitely time for bed. We had a great time though and Adam loved watching everything going on. He didn't mind all the noise unless it was Dan yelling and then he would cry!

Adam and I went for a drive Sunday afternoon to see the fall leaves on the Alpine Loop. These pictures don't show how vibrant the yellow leaves were and I didn't get any of the red leaves. It was so refreshing and it was free if you are just driving through. You can drive it from American Fork Canyon to Provo Canyon or just the opposite in about 1.5 hours. I highly recommend going in the next couple days if you are in Utah County!

6 Months

Adam is 6 months old today! I love this stage that we are in now. Adam loves music and his favorite songs are "Wheels on the Bus" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider". He always smiles really big when I sing the line "and washed the spider out!"...he's such a boy! He loves when Dan plays the guitar too. He has started sleeping on his tummy. He usually goes to bed at 6, wakes up at 4 to eat, and then wakes up at 7 for the day. He has naps at 9 and 1. He is great at grabbing toys and holding onto them. He has just started pushing up on his feet a little bit when he is on his tummy so I imagine he'll start crawling by Thanksgiving. He eats rice cereal and oatmeal mixed with either peas, sweet potatoes, squash, pears, or peaches. He doesn't like bananas or applesauce. He eats this for lunch at 12 and dinner at 5. I love finally being on a schedule that is (for the most part) the same day to day. His latest thing is that he growls and it is super cute. I was so excited when he started grabbing his toes but now he tries to suck on them too! Oh boy do I love you Adam! We are so glad that we have you!

Roman Shades

I just bought this fabric to make a faux roman shade for my basement:

Can't wait for it to arrive...I bought it online which is a little scary but I think the color should be just fine. I don't need it to be a functional shade (it doesn't have to actually go up and down) because I have plantation shutters so that is why it will be a "faux" shade. This is a great tutorial for how to do this super easy and cheap...no sewing even! However, my problem is that I'm not installing it inside my window frame because of my shutters so I'm going to follow this tutorial. This can be an easy and inexpensive way to get a designer look for your windows. Here is a picture of my inspiration...the original roman shade that I found on Etsy and LOVED but didn't want to pay that much especially when I only wanted it to be decorative

Corn and Black Bean Salad

I made this recipe found HERE the other night and I seriously ate just about all of it myself. It was so yummy! I ate a lot of it right away when the corn was warm from being sauteed. Dan waited for it to chill and he ate some with chips as a salsa. Either way it was delicious and you must try it!

Adam's New Tricks

Adam grabs his feet and toes now just about whenever he is on the floor. I was so excited for him to be able to do that...I think it is so cute and makes him seem so rolley-polley (I know I didn't make that word up but definitely made up the spelling!) He really likes taking baths although he doesn't really splash yet. Sometimes he actually doesn't even put his legs in the water, he holds them up just above the water and crosses his feet. Dan and I are amazed at his ab strength! And lastly, he loves jumping in the Jolly Jumper...at least that is what my family calls it. Just in the last week he has figured out that if he bends his knees he can jump and spin around. I love watching him play and jump around. (ps- Don't mind my messy closet! Dan did it...:)

A Baby Shower for TWINS

Last Saturday I hosted a Baby Shower for my friend Kayla who is having TWINS- a boy and a girl! My sister Erin designed the invitations and I planned all the decorations and details based on those...I'll have to post about them soon, they were darling. They were blue and red so I made lots of tissue paper pom poms, table runners, a Congratulations sign, a tiered serving dish, advice cards, and bookmarks for favors to match. I had a blast doing it all and secretly didn't want this little project to be over. I'm in a desperate need of a new project now! Anyway, it was fun to put together and I hope it was a perfect party for Kayla. A lot of our neighbors came to show their support and "showered" her with gifts for her TWO little babes! We're so excited for them to arrive so Adam will have some buddies. I wish I had taken better pictures and more pictures of all the details but these will have to do...

Picnic at the Park

We had a picnic lunch today with Erin and Ashley at good ole' Kiwanis Park in Provo. The weather is absolutely gorgeous right now and we had yummy food thanks to Costco. I wish I could have a picnic lunch with them everyday. Adam LOVES being outside too even though these pictures don't show it, he just didn't want to smile I guess. Anyway, he will watch the trees for a long time. It makes me wish I could take him home to Fairhill Drive in Delaware where we had a beautiful forest in our backyard.

Sitting Pretty

Adam sits up pretty well now and sat up all by himself in a highchair at Sizzler the other night...that's right, we're in our 20's and we eat at Sizzler :) He also got to suck on a pineapple and he loved it. He loves eating just about anything we'll let him...although it isn't a whole lot yet!

Weekend with the Robertsons

Dan's sister Kim and her husband Matt came out from Oklahoma to spend Labor Day weekend with us. It was such a blast! Seriously they are so fun to have around we really want them to come back! Goodness, where to begin with what we did and what we ate...there was a lot of eating involved. On Friday we rode the tram at Snowbird to the summit and had a picnic lunch. We then went to Park City and rode the Alpine Slide and Coaster. That night we watched Tangled and ate chocolate chip cookies. On Saturday we had the Hollingshaus traditional crepes for breakfast, went to the Harley Davidson Showroom, and had lunch at J-Dawgs. We watched the BYU Football game, test drove some cars, played Scattegories and Last Word, and got icecream at SubZero. On Sunday we barbecued with some of my family, played Ladderball, and watched Tangled again. On Monday we ate french toast for breakfast at Kneaders, visited Temple Square, and finished off the trip with dinner at Chili's. It was all so fun! 5 Months

Adam is 5 months old now as of Saturday! Time is starting to go by super fast. I feel like I just did a 4 month update. He weighed 17 lbs. 7 oz. as of last Wednesday when we went into the doctor's office because of his second ear infection. He will probably have to get tubes in his ears this winter. Adam loves to roll over from his back to his stomach but then he gets stuck. This makes diaper changing time a wrestling match. He loves to squeal and makes lots of high-pitched birdie noises. He eats rice cereal twice a day and has squash or sweet potatoes at dinner time, although he doesn't really like the squash. He is sooo interested in food though and watches us eat very intensely. We can't share with you yet buddy! He is in size 3 diapers and is wearing 6-9 month clothing. He loves to stand up on our laps but is starting to sit more if we support him. He is grabbing onto things more especially my hair and I must say he has quite the grip! He takes naps in his bed now so we are home a lot more which has been a huge change for me. We're trying to keep a regular schedule of one nap in the morning and two in the afternoon. He goes to bed at 7 and will sleep until 9 with two feedings in the night...usually. Every so often he'll wake up every three hours in the night and that REALLY throws me off as well the general happiness in our home :) Dan says now that if Adam is happy then I am happy and if I'm happy then we're all happy. It is very true! Adam has the cutest laugh and we love to hear it and see him smile. I love that his sense of humor is developing and he'll laugh if I say something silly or dance around. I can't wait for him to tell me jokes and dance around too!

Pool Day...Finally

We have had a pool membership all summer and haven't gone once! Partly because I have worried about him being too young for the sun/sunscreen/chlorine/blahblahblah and partly because we have just stayed really busy. But Adam was being cranky this afternoon and we hadn't been out of the house yet so I decided it was the day. We splashed our feet in the water a little bit but mostly just hung out under the umbrella on a lounge chair. Adam was happier so I consider it a success! Hopefully there will be much more of this next summer with some new little friends!

I will never leave you in the garage in the jogging stroller again even if it is just for a second to open the door and set my bag on the counter just four feet away. Today I did this and I immediately heard a strange noise and I turned around to see you rolling down our driveway, across the rocks, and into the street. I dashed after you and brought you back into the garage and got you out of the stroller despite my entire body shaking and the cute smile on your face. I think you kind of liked it but I sure didn't. And thank goodness we don't live on a busy street. I learned my lesson. Please forgive me.

Last night I gave you your medicine which I had just gotten refilled. The pharmacist gave me a different syringe but I wasn't very careful when I gave it to you. I filled the syringe to the 1 line but only too late realized it was 1 teaspoon, not 1 milliliter. I gave your 5 times too much! After calling the doctor and poison control we decided you should be alright. I wanted to cry and I rocked you to sleep for an extra long time. I learned my lesson and will always pay more attention when giving you medicine. Please forgive me.

Last Saturday we went to a ReAl Salt Lake soccer game. Both Dan and I played soccer growing up and really enjoy watching it. Adam loved looking at all the people, lights, and hearing all the noise. We also enjoyed our hot dogs, popcorn, and soda- thanks to Dan's work for free tickets and food!

4 Months

Adam is 4 months old today. He can chat, smile and laugh. He loves holding onto a blankie and is starting to grab toys. He doesn't like to be cuddled but does love to be thrown up in the air or held upside down. I have a feeling he is going to be a very busy and active little boy. He has been on medicine for acid reflux now for a month but still seems to spit up a lot. He sleeps well during the night usually from 8:30 to 6:30 and then to 9:30. But getting him to nap during the day is a little more difficult. I'm tempted to start just putting him in his crib and letting him cry but that is so hard to do! I really love this little guy and it seriously grows more and more every day. And his laugh is just about the best sound in the whole world!

Surprise Surprise

Erin flew in from Ohio last week to surprise my family who didn't think she was going to make it to our reunion. It was such a great surprise! (sorry the first 40 seconds could be deleted but I don't know how to do that :)

We had a great time boating, going to the pool, having dance parties, and playing games. Our group wasn't complete though and we missed Dan, Becky, Brian and the Hawkins. And thank goodness Adam did awesome in the car despite Erin's flight getting in late and driving through a hail storm. Why would it hail in July...I don't know!

It has been a little while since I last posted. Probably because finding the time to upload pictures from my camera and type a little post is harder to come by. But these are some things I've been thinking about documenting on the ole' blog:

Either I'm just getting used to having a baby or it really is getting a little easier.
I love when Adam takes GOOD naps...he is so much happier!
Does anyone else think the water park off the freeway in Sandy-ish area looks like a giant Mouse Trap board game?
I hate when I can't find the matching tupperware lids.
I love having a little design project to be working on...it is such a refreshing break from being a mom for a little bit.
I wish I could fly to Delaware to have Liza do my hair because I have yet to find a hairstylist here I like.
My hubby is sporting a sweet beard these days and looks quite dapper if I do say so.

Well Happy Weekend! We are barbecuing with friends tomorrow and I would love to have a pretty backyard like this:

Sunday Afternoon Drive

Adam needed to take a nap this afternoon, Dan wanted to listen to his audio book, and I wanted to get out of the house so we drove to Mona to check out the lavender fields. It was a win-win for everyone except when we stopped the car...Adam didn't like that very much. Oh and don't mind his hair- Dan styled it this morning!

Time to Relax

After crying in the car for about two hours on our way home from Colorado, Adam was ready to relax in front of the Yankees game. He is just like his daddy. Turns out Adam has his first ear infection though so the crying was for a good reason. Poor baby- I really hope he gets better soon so we get more sleep again!

Weekend with the Gibbons

We had a blast last weekend with our friends Blake + Sheena who came to visit us from Seattle. They are expecting their first little girl in August, Hannah, and she will be Adam's girlfriend...we've already decided. We went to the driving range.

We ate King Kong Cones from Macey's...and everyone felt very sick! (Except for me because I don't like soft serve ice cream- I like the real stuff!)

We "went" to the Strawberry Days Rodeo in Pleasant Grove...we were there for all of 15 minutes because there was absolutely no where to sit! But as Dan walked around holding Adam everyone commented "Look at that baby!" or "Look at that baby's hair!" It is pretty funny to hear people's comments when they see him.

Dan and Blake played a lot of Playstation baseball. I'm pretty sure Dan was winning and Blake was loosing based on their facial expressions.

Adam really like Sheena and snuggled up to take a nap with her. I think it is because he already loves Hannah and wanted to be close to her. We are so glad they came to visit and we had so much fun as always!

Wedding Bells

We flew to Connecticut for Memorial Day weekend to celebrate Kim and Matt's wedding. It was Adam's first time on an airplane he slept for 3 of our 4 flights. The one he didn't sleep for he thought it would be ok to cry the whole time. We made it through without anyone throwing peanuts or pretzels at us :) These pictures from the wedding are in a jumbled order thanks to blogger!

Adam got to meet Nancy Jensen who he will spend many more Christmas Eve's with! She is a dear family friend of the Posners.

2 Months

At two months old Adam weighs 13 lbs. 12 oz. and is 24 3/4 inches tall which puts him in the 95th and 90th percentile. He is our little hungry hungry hippo. He loves to try to get his fist in his mouth to suck on. He is starting to smile more and talk to us. We can't wait to hear him laugh and play with us more. He is sleeping usually about 6-7 hours in the night. Hopefully that will get longer so I get more uninterrupted sleep. He hasn't lost any of his hair and it is only growing longer, especially on his right side. He is adorable though and we get comments from people everywhere we go on his hair and how cute he is. He doesn't take a binky. He loves to look at the lights and anything with white/black contrast. He still loves to be held out but he is starting to fall asleep on our chests too so we get to snuggle him a little more. He has met all of his family now except for Uncle Bubba! (come visit please :) We just love him and are excited and anxious to watch him grow and develop even more.

Chubby Cruisers

I got it when we sold my beloved car Jack.

I saw one of my neighbors out for a bike ride on her cruiser on Saturday when the weather was finally springish and it made me really excited to get mine out. I just need Adam to hurry up and sit up so he can come along with me. These baby seats are available at Chubby Cruisers. Perfect right? I know Adam will love it already.

Date Night

Last night we went bowling with our friends Greg + Kayla for our date night. We had a great time and Adam loved his first time bowling! For most of it he was asleep but towards the end he seemed entertained by the music and everything to look at. We all bowled pretty well but Dan won with a score of 158. It was a fun night and what made it even better was than Adam slept for the second night in a row from 11:30 to 5:30!

Leaving on a Jetplane

This is going to be us next week. Am I excited? For the actual trip...absolutely! But for the many hours on a plane and in airports...not at all. Cross your fingers for me for the next week that Adam will "sleep like a baby" the whole time. Who came up with that expression anyway? Just in case he is crying for any portion of the flight maybe his cuteness will make up for it and the people we're sitting around won't hate us. I'll be sure to post pictures and let you know how it all goes.

Motherhood

Celebrating Mother's Day this year was obviously different for me. Thinking of myself as a mother now- and not just my mother, mother-in-law, and grandmothers- put the day in a different perspective for me. I thought about the enormous responsibility I now have and will forever have. I thought about how tired I am sometimes, how patient I must be sometimes, but how much joy I feel constantly by having this little boy in my life. I have such a greater love, appreciation, and respect for all mothers now. Motherhood is really about sacrifice and so much of it is done without even putting any thought into it. And that will be all for now so that I can go get my crying baby and feed him...that is pretty much life now :) LOVE to all the mothers in my life, you are amazing!
